Coupling size-segregation and rheology in dense granular media
The student will run discrete element method (DEM) simulations on LAMMPS, which will guide the development of continuum-scale coupled size-segregation and flow model for dense granular media. The student will also use numerical techniques to simulate the continuum model and test the efficacy of the model against the DEM simulations data.
Leveraging data-driven methods to learn constitutive behavior from fine-scale simulations
The student will conduct research along a broad theme of data-driven modeling of materials. The scope of the research includes, but not limited to, learning
elastic, visco-elastic and visco-plastic material behavior by leveraging state of the art machine learning tools.
